2000 Croft

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Croft 2000: dark mature brick red colour, 80% opaque. A wonderful nose of fragrant and ripe star fruit with complex layers of tobacco and wood ash. Smooth palate, redcurrant and wood ash on the palate, gentle tannins providing a little bite to the edge of the wine. Fresh acidity keeping the wine in focus, brown sugar and bruised apple adding some complexity to the fruit. A fabulous aftertaste of mature fruit leads to a long raspberry coulis and red liquorice finish. Fabulous - I should drink more Croft VP! 93/100. Tasted 20-Apr-23.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
