1966 Dow

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

The cork fell in when I tried to use a corkscrew on it. The wine is not undrinkable, but it’s oxidised and tawny and not what it should be. It reminds me of a Dow 1908. It’s fiery but honeyed, dry but simultaneously full of brown sugar, dominated by bitter and fragrant lime oil yet balanced by sweet and fat dates. It’s got a great long finish. I’m moderately enjoying it; it’s just not what D66 should be. 83/100. Opened 14-Apr-2023.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
