2020 Churchill Gricha

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

ChG20: rather surprisingly, I find I have just emptied the last remnants of a bottle of Churchill Gricha 2020 into my glass, a mere 5 hours after opening it. Very easy to drink, dominated by the blackcurrant fruit with a lovely floral overtone. Some gentle tannins sit hidden in the fruit, which is balanced but still so easy to drink. This is a million miles away from the old-fashioned blockbuster and undrinkable young Port of the past. Lovely, fruity and with the balance to make a really, lovely early to mid-term maturing Port. 88/100. 16-Apr-23. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
