Good colour.

I detected a bit of VA on the nose - or was it just the usual Taylor heat?

Palate a bit acrid for my taste - or was it just the usual Taylor heat?

Finish a bit harsh - or was it just the usual Taylor heat?

T83. bright red, 40% opaque. Palate mature, mid-palate sweetness, some Taylor grit too. The sweetness was long and lovely.

E: A pretty red, tending to red at the rim.
N: Quite spirit-y on the nose.
P: A short palate, quite hot, and quite sweet.
Unimpressed (except for the Tetris-sized sediment).

A little more red in the colour of this wine than in the Noval Nacional and Fonseca tasted earlier in the flight, the 60% opaque wine having a lovely glow in the glass. Restrained on the nose, some candied redcurrant perhaps. Definitely redcurrant on the palate, arriving with medium weight and some nice bitterness. The fruit and the presence of the wine on the palate grow nicely, bringing in some additional flavours of cranberry and blackthorn. The aftertaste is good, with plenty of fruit, fading slowly over the long finish. A very pleasant surprise given my low expectations for this wine. 89/100. Decanted 2½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

30% opacity, mature soft red. Soft red fruit and candy on the nose. Soft and chewy red fruits - cherries, gentle heat, candy.
