Peter Bayly 2004

Pater Bayly I think of restaurant fame in the cape and now making cape vintage p*** wine.
Not bad, certainly not bad for the money. From Calitzdorp home of Boplas and De Krans. Very dark, slightly citric nose I associate with the fortified wines from tis part of SA. Sweetness hits you first then a bit of fruit along with chalky tannins before a bit of heat on the finish (which spoils the finish). For me the alcohol detracts a little but enjoyable all the more when you have driven the high passes around Calitzdorp!
If this was my first attempt at making (as I believe it was for Peter) a wine I would be pretty pleased with myself.
