Bottled 2021 in a hand-blown decanter in a presentation box. OMG! From the start, this is a blockbuster. Immensely rich on the nose, rich and powerful with an incredible intensity of honey and lemon; very sweet yet balanced by lemon freshness from the acidity. All these sensations and flavours from smelling the wine also come through on the palate — but magnified ten-fold. Thick and rich on the palate, immensely acidity but with so much dried-fruit and honey. Rich aftertaste; an aftertaste which teases and tantalises by slowly revealing layer after layer of flavour. Absolutely stunning. How can a Port be better? 100/100. Drunk 01-Jun-23. Tasting note written ½ hour after the wine was poured.

wonderful port that reminded me of vintage port despite it being a Colheita. Massively sweet for its age and the concentration is extreme. Very thin rim if at all. Color is blackish with minor brown reflexes. Flavors I detected a bit of dark cherry, elderberry and figs. Sirupy in texture and the finish is very impressive. The aftertaste goes on and on! A perfect port!

1896 Krohn

Dark red rim

Huge pungency

Rich sweet wine

Port grape varietal characteristics - actually port!

Even more intensity than the Niepoort VV
