Pop and decant and pour after half an hour

Deep damson colour only paling to the tune of 10% at the rim

Nose definitely in the plum spectrum with a bit of J M Barrie’s rich damp fruit cake at the end.

Chocolate early then some black cherries. Then lots more black cherries. Black cherries.

Lovely sticky mi-cuit figs and chocolate on the finish.

This is wonderful port. Arguably now fully ready on this showing. But no hurry.

I am not sure I have consistently enjoyed any 1994 more, with the possible exception of the Warre, which I do not think is better, but which might possibly be more ‘me’.

Consumed in part 22/7/23

Consumed further on 23/7/23 and 24/7/23. At its best on 23/7/23, so 24 hour decant about right if intention is to consume at a sitting. Maybe becoming a bit monotonal on 24/7/23.

In my experience, V94 needs at least 8 hours of decant and usually peaks between then and 12 hours. Often closer to 12. It does not surprise me at all that it was best after 24 hours.

I wouldn't describe it as a beast, but it requires the decant time thereof.

This bottle might well have been at best after 12 hours - but I didn’t alas taste it at that point. It was certainly still jolly good at 24.
