NV Niepoort Trudy Ruby

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A wide rim on an intense red colour. A lovely nose of bramble fruit. Smooth bramble fruit on the palate, silky texture until the tannins start to show through to deliver a core of dark chocolate. Slowly the acidity shows through the fruit to turn it more towards blackcurrant than bramble. Light, spritely, very much dominated by the fruit but with just the right kind of structure to balance the fresh fruit. A delicious Ruby Port. 86/100. Opened on the 8th when one glass was poured and then immediately vacu-vined. Drunk on 23-Mar-23 2023. Bottled in 1 litre format.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
