2020 Quevedo

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Quevedo 2020, bottled in 2022 in 9cl for the 2022 advent calendar. Such a deep and intense red to look almost black, with a very narrow rim. Floral perfume on the nose, like an alpine meadow in the sun. A hint of green tea under the perfume. Smooth texture, satin and lace, but under is a hard-edged acidity and slightly green tannin bringing to mind the structure of an old-school Vintage Port. Generous fruit matches the structure, the fruit pure and focused. The aftertaste and finish reinforce the power of this wine; big, bold and bountiful. No compromises here! A great blockbuster which will last a lifetime. 95/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
