2000 Taylor

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

The current offer by the glass at the Oxford & Cambridge Club, offered @ £15 for a 100ml pour. Decanted in the morning.

A startling crimson colour, opaque with a narrow rim. Fresh crushed berries on the nose, a fruits of the forest blend. The fruit on the palate is still young and fresh with a little bitterness around the firm, acidic core. The fruit is really clean and fresh, quite lovely in character. A little kick in the throat on the aftertaste - a hint of the Taylor power - but this quickly fades to leave a very long, very big bitter black berry fruit finish built up around a strong liquorice core. Very good, very young. 92/100. Tasted 11-Jan-24. Decanted 8 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
