Fonseca Vertical

We held a mini Fonseca Vertical at my house on Friday. Covered were all vintages from 1970-1983. Surprises were the 75, it develops into a nice port and should not be overlooked. The 70 was epic as usual and the 77 is also a dandy that should stand the test of time. 83 is going to be a fine vintage down the road; drinks nice now, but I would hold off another 10 years before going crazy on them. I forget what I thought about the 80.
There's been a lot already written on each of these, so I will forgo the TN's for this post.

Moses - you cannot forego TNs on a tasting like that, it's unforgivable.
I voted 1970 as it's never disappointed, always a star. After that 1977.

I agree on the 70 and 77, but one has to wonder if what the 77 will taste like in 7-10 years. 75 started out rough, but showed some sugar on the nose. It was the thinnest of ports that evening. Spirit-wise, they gap was not the big among the best and worst.
83's or worth grabbing for long term aging, or drinking if you like some fruit upfront.
Sean collected my TN's from the evening.
