NV Quinta da Bela Vista 80 Years Plus

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

NV Quinta da Bela Vista 80 years plus, Carcavelos. 10g residual sugar. The first bottle was defective with an unpleasant nose so a second bottle was opened and poured. The wine was bottled in 1991 from 3000 litres (16,200 bottles) of family stocks of the producers who ceased making wine in the 1950s. This was bottle 5622.

An attractive golden colour, 10% opaque. Limited nose, a little orange peel, but the wine has been popped and poured after 30 years in bottle. Although dry in style, the bitter fruit dominates. The lemon and lime oil on the palate blossoms on the aftertaste, giving a long and flavoursome finish of incredible length. Very, very good. 95/100. Tasted at a Carcavelos event in Lisbon on 29-Feb-2024.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
