Bottle matured LBV, bottled in 1986 (as stated on the cork). Mature ruby red appearance, looking to be in early maturity; 50% opaque. Cherry cough drops on the nose, mixing sweet fruit with a touch of menthol. On the palate this is so impressive. Lively and light-footed, the fruit dances around the edges of the tongue, focused and with a bright level of acidity. There is so much cherry fruit on the aftertaste, perhaps a little like canned cherries rather than fresh cherry, but rammed full of fruit. The finish settles quickly, the fruit remains but a layer of red liquorice and aniseed develops to add a compliment of heat to the fruit. The combination of the two lasts for a very long time. Exactly how long, I can't tell because it is impossible to resist another sip! Just simply delicious!! Sadly, that was my last bottle; purchased ex-cellars in May 2012. 90/100. Drunk 09-Apr-24 2024.
