Dark for a Warre 1977. Deep dark fruits on the nose. Lovely fruit. Later, however, not splendid.

Nose a bit muted. Palate good, but a slight harshness on the finish.
Have had lots of W77 and was a bit disappointed with this. Maybe not a good bottle?

W77, glorious red, 40% opaque. First attempt: intensely dry, then mint; very odd. Later: soft, and good size, much improved in the glass — now good Port.

45% opacity, mature red. Red fruit, cranberries, slightly dusty. Lovely sweet, soft, chewy entry, then a little heat, chewy cranberries.

Nose: subtle, maybe a touch of cherries
Palate: beautiful medley of red fruit on entry, luscious with a touch of citrus acidity, which strengthens into the mid-palate. Pepper spice to finish with a touch of tobacco. Excellent (I forgot about this in the scoring but it should have been in the mix).

Warre 1977: Deep rose red colour, 50% opaque. A lovely elegant nose, led by sweet red fruit. Nuanced and elegant on entry; ripe fruit with terrific acidity. A hint of green in the sweet aftertaste. Wonderfully fragrant, slightly sweet with hints of Maltesers. Redcurrant, a little red liquorice and a long, lingering finish. Lovely, but not perfect. 91/100. Decanted 12½ hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
