Hi all,

Port lover from the Netherlands here, started getting into ports around 5 years ago.

Started buying vintage ports like a madman and currently have a cellar of about 700-800 bottles. Most are 85's, 92's (birthyear), 94s, 2000s and 2017s. Some special bottles are Fonseca 63, Taylor's 70 and Niepoort Garrafeira 52. Though i regret some past purchases, I have gotten a bit more confident recently with what to (not) buy. Opening around 20 bottles a year, mostly with my wife or friends.

I'm very envious of all the beautiful tastings I see organised here, and hope to be able to join some in the future, who knows . Though I doubt I currently have many interesting bottles to bring, maybe in 30 or so years...

Joined the forum to complete my 92 collection (only Gilbert's is still missing). But also interested in other's opinions on specific bottles, vintages or types. Need some guidance in building a collection and I just love anything to do with port.

Really enjoyed the portweinmesse last year, and got tickets for this year as well. Might bump into some of you, hopefully.

Favourite Tawny so far: Taylor's 1896, thanks to Joep Dielen for letting me taste this.

If you find yourself in London, you should try get yourself over to a Port tasting. There's plenty going on!

You would be very welcome at a London tasting - everyone who is a member of the Port Forum is invited to all our tastings. Not having a bottle which fits the theme is not always a problem. Often you can "adopt" a bottle from someone else, either paying cash for the bottle you adopt or swapping one of the bottles from your cellar for a bottle which fits the theme.

Sounds great Alex, will happily join some tastings! I'll be out of a job this November and haven't found anything new yet, might give me some time to come over to the UK .
