Uncellared, opened, decanted & poured 11 August 2024.

One of a batch of W77 bottles purchased from WineOwners in May 2018.

Percy Fox & Co label. Assumed good level (glass too dark to see) as capsule and cork perfect with no signs of any leakage. Lots of heavy sediment.

Still fairly deep coloured, maybe 70% and no obvious browning.
Cellar cold, so nose is a bit muted, but some notes of orange, fig, possibly green pepper, licorice and leather evident.
Palate more forward. Maybe a little fruit remains, but otherwise well developed. Taste profile very similar to the nose. Drier than anticipated. Still a little tannin. Lovely balance.

Like this a lot. Will leave in the decanter for tomorrow.

Edit - left overnight in the decanter (so had about 10 hours in it), but then decided to Vac-u-Vin the rest. Will update on progress.

+24 hours

Nose has intensified but retains previous notes less the green pepper. However, palate has declined.

I think I left it in the decanter for maybe 6 hours too long.

Still good, but could have been great...

That decline in the decanter is why for me this is pretty much a pop and pour port, albeit one of true deliciousness. Four hours in decanter about optimal.
