According to the Swedes, this brand is run by one of the Messias family as an independent brand but using family stocks. This is the first opportunity I've had to try a wine from this house - thank you Will!
Miguel’s 1982 Vintage Port. Decanted at 16.00. Mature bronze appearance, 60% opaque. Mature dried fruit on the nose, quite complex and interesting. Dried fruit on the palate backed by the right amount of acidity to keep the palate fresh. A little heat on the aftertaste quickly fades to allow the sweet cranberry and bitter orange zest finish to settle in. Oh! There’s even some coffee at the end. Really rather lovely - better than Miguel’s “an inoffensive wine” suggests! 89/100. Drunk 18-Aug-2024 with Will Wiley and Miguel Souza Uva.
