1970 Warre

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled by Berry Brothers, sealed with a pink foil. A mature red colour, 80% opaque. Gentle sweet roses on the nose, delicate and wonderfully fragrant. A terrific set of mature fruit flavours yet still backed up by the remnants of tannins. A powerful aftertaste, a huge presence and lots of mature fruit leading through to the finish. Big, mature and delicious. Served blind, this was guessed to be Fonseca 1970. 93/100. Tasted 12-Aug-20. Decanted 3 hours.

Tasted at the mid-COVID re-opening of the Boot & Flogger.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
