NV Messias White 40YO

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

6cl sample of Messias 40YO white. Darker and more brown than the 30YO. A wonderful clover honey on the nose, sweet and complex. So refined on the palate! Smooth, perfumed honey just oozes over the tongue - but don’t miss the acidity that lurks and smirks under all that honey. Glorious honey and lemon aftertaste and finish. So different in style from the 30YO, personal preference will say whether you prefer the 30 or the 40 - both are delicious. 91/100. There is a little bit of earthiness to the finish that makes me wonder if there is some Casa do Douro stock in the blend, but it’s not strong enough to be unpleasant. Tasted 28-Jan-25.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
