As organised by George G., on Monday 10th February 2025, Some of the usual folks gathered in the Boot & Flogger, for a horizontal of 2000s.

Woe betide! What has become of us‽ A horizontal of Port from this century. Yes yes, the world has other disasters afoot, but this disaster is afoot here: what has become of us‽

V00. Dark dark red, 90% opaque. Slightly hollow. Much dark fruit, but the mid-palate lacking: not Vesuvio at its best. But others liked so much that I should retest.

I generally like Vesuvio and this was no exception to that rule, I have tried nicer years but this did not disappoint – fortunately I have several bottles in my cellar however I note others present agreed with me enough to buy some during the evening …..

Lovely fragrance. Good grapey palate. Sweet blackcurrant and blueberry. Young but very good. Perfect balance.

Rose red colour, 90% opaque. The fruit has a lovely elegance on the nose. The elegance of the texture is fabulous, rich fruit full of black cherry and dark chocolate. Stunning Port, really very good. 93/100.
