Library release in 2024. A lovely dark brick red colour. Deep and rich dark fruit on the nose, full of liquorice. Medium bodied dark fruit with gentle tannins. A lovely menthol and black cherry finish. Great Port, still youthful. 94/100. Tasted 18-Feb-2025.

Had this port twice last year ("regular". botteling). Indeed a great port, in an amazing place right now.

THIS was the wine that made me fall in love with Vesuvio. Not the 1994 - that came later - but this 1995 and its younger sibling the 2005. That infatuation got me started buying 6-packs, though not of every vintage. I think I buy about 40% of their vintages. I started with 1995 and filled forward, then eventually picked up a few bottles of 1991 and 1992. I have ...
many ... bottles of 1994 which I use to "fill in" and protect the 6-packs.
One of those first 6-packs was cracked open last month for Port Club. They're 30 years old now, which was the plan for opening all along. If I stick to my "schedule" this 6-pack should last 10-12 years, at which point the 1997, 2000, 2003, and 2005 6-packs will all be open. Ergo the need for many bottles of 1994 to fill in until the 6-pack system is fully functioning.
I also scored it 94 points, though with a little "95?" next to the score. It's just as good as I remember.

The Vesuvio 1994 is tremendous and is, like the Fonseca 1985, a wine of which it is impossible to be overstocked, but the one I love the most is the 1992. There’s just something about it these last five years that ticks my boxes.
