2011 Warre LBV, traditional bottle matured, bottled 2015. Decanted 9 hours. Dark red, garnet in tone with a medium rim. The nose is gorgeous, sweet dark fruit - think black cherry and bramble. Ooh! I love the texture on the palate, light and fluffy yet enveloping and reassuring - like a favourite comfort blanket you rediscover in a long-forgotten drawer. The dark fruit settles gently, with the tannins simply exquisite within that blanket of dark fruit settles gently a little menthol warmth on the aftertaste soon dances with the liquorice and black chocolate, merging with the fruit this reminds of when I was once foolish enough to be persuaded by a Polish friend to try Slivovitz-soaked plums encased in black chocolate. I can still taste those plums today - or is it the 2011 Warre LBV? This is great stuff. I had very high expectations and I have not been disappointed. It’s LBV and drinking wonderfully today, but it has at least 20 years before hitting its peak. 93/100.
