1965 Graham Malvedos, late release in 2015, bottle number 167 of 400. Decanted 1 hour. Bronze red colour, 60% opaque. Bletted quince and bruised apple on the nose. Sweet cherry, bitter sloe and lots of heat making this so much like the cheap cherry brandy I used to drink in my youth! Long finish, bitter cherry with caramel undertone. The finish is very impressive. But this is definitely a Port for those who like their wines fully mature and in their tertiary phase. 85/100.

A further two hours in the decanter allowed the wine to develop a little more balanced, but it remains evolved, tertiary and with the fruit fading rapidly. 86/100. Drunk 29-Mar-25.

‘Bletted quince on the nose’ would be a great title for your autobiography…

Have an original release bottle that I picked up from the BBR broking list in December 1996. Should probably get it drunk soon.

I volunteer to assist - the '65 was my favourite of the last GM vertical, and I have been looking (without success) for another lovely dark UK-stored bottle since.
