For Monday 14th April 2025, an emergency has been declared. You know what to do. Do it.

I appear to be available. I’m in.

Port too good for the in-laws. Hmm - I only have 1 in-law left and any Port is too good for her. Never mind, it wasn’t my theme and gives me a chance to open the Croft Pink I never thought I’d open.

I’m in. My in-laws are delightful people, and my father in law spent two hours last weekend washing, waxing and polishing our car. But port gives him a terrible head. So I am likely to bring something to celebrate the fine man that he is, but which I can’t drink with him. Niepoort 1977.

I will bring a 1985 Fonseca, and a Wine Society crusted (bot. 2013).

Or I could bring two F85s, with 24-hour decant and pop-and-pour. Team preference?

Oddly, my two other options for this tasting, having brought them up from Rutland this afternoon, were Fonseca 1985 and Wine Society Crusted bottled 2013…

Would you prefer that the Wine Society bottle be replaced with a Quevedo crusted bottled 2016?

@jdaw1 - I suggest bringing the WS one. It's a school night so will not be over-drinking.

First post updated.

Current draft of the placemats updated. (For which, @Alex, what is the bottling date of the Pink?)

Green Room booked (so limiting to eight people).

Cellar records suggest it was acquired in April 2021 so, perhaps, 2020?

Food order by Wednesday. And I have been informed of the play with large steaks:
£60    Club Sirloin on the bone 600g
£46    Filler Steak £240g
£86    Chateaubriand 500g
£78    Cote du Boeuf on the bone 680g (Prime ribeye)
£82    Tomahawk (Prime ribeye) on the bone 900g-1Kg

Peppercorn, garlic butter or chimichurri sauces £3 each on top.

As I said, a pre order for these is needed.
I suspect that “Filler” = Fillet.

And there is a draft of the food order.

No sauce - they are all “not bearnaise”.

Oh very well. I've been bottle-shamed and will join the herd.

How would people feel about me rolling the dice and bringing a Dow 1977 that we can pop, pour and consume before the terrible TCA swamps the wine?

Looking at the list of 77s for Monday and note that we don't have Graham.

Any thoughts on me bringing it instead of Sandeman?

Since it has become a ’77 evening, why don’t I adopt the Graham, and ideally another 1977 (anybody?), and save the F85+F85+crusted for another time. So pls may I adopt the Graham?

Possibly we need another category of tasting, which is neither an ‘emergency’ (grab nearest bottle of port, stat, hurry to B&F) or a ‘broad horizontal’ (takes six years to arrange, everyone has to take two days off work). Possibly an ‘informal’ - ‘let’s see what happens, will a theme emerge?’. This is an ‘informal’ - nine 1977s and a Croft pink.

“It’s an emergency! Grab the nearest magnum of Taylor 1896, and make all haste to the Boot & Flogger.”

How would this not be an emergency?

Indeed, I note the tasting “Tue 2nd Jan 2018, Bring a Bottle (ideally of 1878)”, reviewed in “Tue 02 Jan 2018, B&F, A Non-Ideal Tasting”.

Sure. Presumably GC77 magnum, as all the singles are corked. Or will you, as for Alex’s Dow, pop-and-pour?
