NV Quevedo White 30YO (bottled 2024)

From 90ml

Pop and pour

A fine glossy chestnut, green rim

Nose of nut brittle, hint of pot pourri, dried orange peel behind, bit of fresh Brazil nut.

Cool entry, rich and lush and silky on palate, not giving much other than sugar in the first second or two and then a big burst of citrus oil. Splendid dried orange peel finish. Hint of cassia bark. Cumin seed. Turmeric? Like eating the pot pourri above mentioned. Positively crunchy.

I find young white port pretty boring, but thirty years or more in barrel seems to play some magic id est make it more like Madeira.

Thanks for the write-up George. I have a 500 ml bottle of this (not sure of the bottling date, but I'm thinking probably around 2019 or 2020) and was wondering how it drank. I'm waiting to open this for a special occasion. Maybe sometime this summer.

@ Mike J W - the special occasion should be, you fancying some port. I will say, keep it in the fridge. But, there it will last a week.

It _would_ last a week - indeed I'd have said a month - but "will" last a week? Unlikely without huge self restraint, or other defenders opened concurrently, at least in my experience! Image
