Cockburn 1950, Raby Castle stock. Decanted 3 hours. Mature brick red colour, 60% opaque. Gentle spiced baked redcurrant on the nose, delicious mature fruit. Medium weight on the palate with the spiced fruit dominating; redcurrant with multiple layers of complexity shining through the fruit balanced by just the right level of acidity to prevent the fruit from being jammy. The wine has put on significant depth since being first decanted. The aftertaste of sweet baked redcurrant fruit persists and lingers, bringing plenty of enjoyment. The wine will not improve with more time in the cellar, but will last a decade — perhaps two — before gracefully starting to decline. Lovely, just lovely. 93/100.
