And if the thread was, Whats your favourite Port of all time' or 'Whats the best VP of 63', as well as the question you actually asked, I suspect the answer would be the same.

I've never had a Noval '67 but would love to try one. I tried a Noval Nacional '67 in February and that was just awesome; still years away from being at its peak.

As a '63 baby I have three favourites:
(1) Taylor '63 - this was the port that I was given when I was 21 by my grandparents and still have 2 bottles left. A great port and has the extra attraction every time I taste one that I know this is the same as my grandparents chose for me.

(2) Noval Nacional '63 - my favourite port ever, I just can't afford to drink as much of it as I would like to.

(3) Fonseca '63 - a lovely, lovely port and probably the one that I would prefer over the Taylor, if I had to make a choice.

Never tasted a 1968 vintage port† , though about to acquire a Graham’s Malvedos 1968 from Derek T. I can contain my excitement.

If I remember correctly, I've heard that Niepoort's should be very good. Any other suggestions?

I do. - and they will remain where they are until you return to a land where there is port and are able to join us at an Off-line where one of these will put in an appearance.

A wise move, but it is a fairly respectable SQVP.

I'm from the 1965 Vintage - two years too late and one year too early

I have tasted the Fonseca Guimareans, Taylor Vargellas, Graham's Malvedos and Messias - none are stunning but the Fonseca would probably just pip the Graham's and Taylor. The Messias was rubbish.

As to my "favourite" - that is a Dow's Quinta do Bomfim 1965 (see my avatar). I have 1 bottle of this extremely rare gem. I have no idea what it will taste like but I like the fact that one day I will.

I personally have never tasted a 1970 but believe I may get the chance next time JDAW1 is in the UK - a 1970 tasting was suggested! I think I may have one or two suitable offerings for such an event now as well!

If anyone has any recommendations from 1970 I would like to hear them.

I don't think I have ever had a bad 1970. Warre and Fonseca are big favourites of mine. Graham, Taylor, Dow, Sandeman all great although I have seen some bottle variation in the Dow and Sandeman.

A 1970 Off-line is a certainty at some point so then you can judge all of these and many more for yourself.

The easy answer to 1970 is Fonseca. The F70 is one Port that has never disappointed anybody and been a revelation to many. If you claimed that it was the best Port ever you would not be laughed at, although it would be subject to debate. Warre, Taylor, Graham, Dow and Sandeman are all also flipping lovely from 1970.

It's great being born in a classic year, isn't it?

And just to throw the name in once again: Niepoort 1970 is a classic as well.

Good. I have some Graham's, Taylor, Fonseca, Warre and Martinez 1975s too so we could perhaps make it a theme for an Off-line

My consolation, but it doesn't look too classy when I have yellow highlighting over the "Bottled in 1979" and people inquire about such =)

Lalalalala, F70 and G70 work out for me as well...

The only guy Im jealous about is AHB who is born in 63.
