N70: red-orange, slightly cloudy, 40% opaque; flabby, bitter, and not right.

1970 Quinta do Noval. Mature brick red colour, 80% opaque. Initially a nice concentrated fruit on the nose but under the fruit is an unattractive earthiness. Better on the palate with concentrated and sweet red berry fruit with a pleasant acidity keeping the sweetness in check. Good volume and length of finish. 89/100. Double decanted 3 hours. Bottled by John Harvey & Sons of 12 Denmark Street, Bristol under a turquoise foil capsule.

Cloudy. Nose is a bit bitter- bonfire toffee. That's not right. Palate bitter. This one is from Julian's side of the table.

45% opcaity, dull red, orange-brown rim. Soft, but a little flabby and mid-weight.
