TV70: red, 40% opaque; dry, mid weight, bitterness mid-palate. Interesting, but now too old.

Later: slightly flabby, lovely, but not top-rank.

1970 Taylor Vargellas. Brick red colour, attractive appearance, 60% opaque. Lovely sweet cinnamon drops nose. Cinnamon drops on the palate with a gentle tannic dryness to the fruit. There is a slight mustiness to the late palate and finish that makes me wonder if this is very slightly corked. Around this possible TCA is a modest, mature Port which has some sweet dried red fruit and golden sultanas. Lingering boysenberry finish. Pleasant. 87/100. Oporto bottled. Double decanted 5 hours. Later the TCA developed to be more obvious.

Note taken on 12/10/25 from sample kindly bottled on night. Lighter than perfect. Nose of star anise. Cherry drops and star anise on the palate. Attractive.

Definitely from Julian's side of the table - no TCA.
