A zombie / in-law invasion needed to be escaped by one of us, and another proposed that the theme be ‘Vintage Port that you would like to drink if you had not Vintage Port for 7 months’. At the Boot & Flogger, on Monday 29th December 2025.

T55, glorious dark red, 60% opaque. Huge, soft, red fruit, then dry mid-palate. wrongly guessed to be Dow, actually Taylor.

Unknown 1955 VP from Cliff Mee: decanted 30 minutes; mature rose red colour, 50% opaque. Delicious sweet fruit with a sprinkle of mace on the nose. On the palate the wine has a lovely balance, a little sweet and quite youthful. A wonderfully big wine, still a touch of tannin in the fruit and plenty of acidity. A touch of tobacco on the aftertaste and a slightly excessively long, warm, menthol aftertaste and finish. Good aniseed finish. Served blind, guessed to be Taylor 1955. 90/100 but perhaps under-decanted.
