A zombie / in-law invasion needed to be escaped by one of us, and another proposed that the theme be ‘Vintage Port that you would like to drink if you had not Vintage Port for 7 months’. At the Boot & Flogger, on Monday 29th December 2025.

G55, red-brown, 40% opaque. Unctuous, lovely texture, then bitter mis-palate. sweet, but with oranges.

Graham 1955. Decanted 1 hour. Light rose red colour, 30% opaque. Fruit which is very slightly oxidised on the nose, but which shows nicely on the palate as sweet cocktail cherry. Nice structure on the mid and late palate with confident acidity and a slight touch of tannin supporting the candied cherry fruit. The aftertaste is impressive, full of dried red fruit with just a hint of marzipan on the finish, and a ghost of bitterness — all of which combine to deliver good complexity. Nice, but not great. 90/100.
