A zombie / in-law invasion needed to be escaped by one of us, and another proposed that the theme be ‘Vintage Port that you would like to drink if you had not Vintage Port for 7 months’. At the Boot & Flogger, on Monday 29th December 2025.

Cr45, glorious dark red, 50% opaque. Nose had dark cherry. Big dark fruit, and strawberries, sweet, long, bright menthol late. Big proper Port. Maybe slightly hollow mid-palate, but the fussiness reflects badly on me: big proper Port.

Croft 1945, decanted 1 hour. Dark red, mature with only a hint of bricking, 80% opaque. Glorious nose of sweet red fruit with wonderful Christmas mincemeat and savoury, meat scents. Big and rich on the palate with wonderful spice and complexity. The spice in the fruit on the aftertaste lasts so long on the infinite finish. Just a wonderful finish to a stunning wine. 96/100.
