A zombie / in-law invasion needed to be escaped by one of us, and another proposed that the theme be ‘Vintage Port that you would like to drink if you had not Vintage Port for 7 months’. At the Boot & Flogger, on Monday 29th December 2025.

Ck35, pink-red, 25% opaque. Nose varnishy. Palate also varnishy, spirity, no fruit, thin. Very far past prime.

Cockburn 1935. Decanted 1 hour. Bronzed red colour in the glass, clearly a mature Port, and 30% opaque. Very mature and into its tertiary phase of life but with a nice spiciness to the dried red and black fruit. Lingering finish with a distinct, sweet caramel finish. Very pleasant fireside Port - but not fully showing the mature fruit I would hope for. 91/100.
