1948 Taylor

Post by jdaw1 »

A zombie / in-law invasion needed to be escaped by one of us, and another proposed that the theme be ‘Vintage Port that you would like to drink if you had not Vintage Port for 7 months’. At the Boot & Flogger, on Monday 29th December 2025.

T48, dark dark red, 70% opaque. Nose: “no!”. Palate light, soft, burnt, but drinkable.

Taylor 1948 (rewaxed). Decanted 1½ hours. Bronze colour, slightly hazy. A little oxidised fruit on the nose, but not to the point of the wine being undrinkable. Sweet fruit on the palate, the oxidised tone coming through on the mid-palate with a lovely dryness to the fruit on the mid-palate. The wine has an impressive grip in the fruit on the finish. Nice finish. Although not showing as well as this wine can, this is a pleasant drink. 88/100.
