A zombie / in-law invasion needed to be escaped by one of us, and another proposed that the theme be ‘Vintage Port that you would like to drink if you had not Vintage Port for 7 months’. At the Boot & Flogger, on Monday 29th December 2025.

W48, red, 40% opaque. Palate burnt and bitter, red cherries, but dominated by the burnt note.

When opened, the cork was unable to confirm that this unlabelled bottle was Warre 1948. From the flavour profile it was probably 1948 Taylor. Decanted 2 hours. Brick red, 30% opaque. Lovely dusty, icing sugar redcurrant nose. Balanced on the palate with a lovely expressive fruit and a glorious sweet fruit concentrate. Rich and wonderful, a slight heat on the aftertaste and finish makes me believe that this is the Taylor. Rich and so enjoyable. 95/100.
