A zombie / in-law invasion needed to be escaped by one of us, and another proposed that the theme be ‘Vintage Port that you would like to drink if you had not Vintage Port for 7 months’. At the Boot & Flogger, on Monday 29th December 2025.

F63, red-red-brown, 30% opaque. Acidic and not right.

Fonseca 1963, decanted 3½ hours. Surprisingly evolved and mature in colour, 40% opaque. Little on the nose with a palate that is slightly oxidised. Some candied fruit on the palate with a lovely acidity and a dusting of tannin. Disappointingly evolved to the extent that it is a bottle which is not showing the volume and vivacity that F63 should and could. A little acidic and thin — but this is picking fine threads. Opened at home this is a bottle I would finish with considerable enjoyment. 89/100.
