1992 Vesuvio

This sample + 84 hours from decant

I do wonder whether this port is receding back into sulkiness somewhat from the delicious pear - fragranced number it has been for the past five years.

Only really now, on the last glass of a bottle previously used for comparative tasting on Saturday evening (against DB92 and GM92) is it really flowering.

It remains grapey, including white-grapey - does anyone remember those little seedless white grapes of the early eighties as sold in provincial Gateway supermarkets - or the grapes in tinned fruit cocktail?

Anyway, still good port, possibly very good, if a bit hollow on the palate on the original 12 hour decant.

Interesting to hear that it might be retreating to sulk for a bit. I've had a couple of bottles that were very nearly as impressive as the 1994, but those have been spread out over the last decade. I've been known to wonder out loud if it might be the 2nd best vintage that Vesuvio has produced.

Glenn, it’s certainly the vintage I enjoy the second most after the 1994.
