1934 Fonseca

60% opacity, dull dark red.
Nose has muted fruit, strawberry, damson, plus some spice, cinnamon, cloves. Feels like this should be sipped while on a balcony as sunset approaches, perhaps in somewhere like Marrakech.
Palate is rich, spiced, even some tannin lurking. The finish begins to allow some of the concentrated fruit out, while the spices linger long. This glass is brooding, a little bit angry that it’s where it is. Might have been more easy-going in about 12 hours!
Top top port nonetheless.
Raby Castle bottling. Decanted at 2130, first tasted at 2230, this note from 1100 the following day.

Sounds like a winner.

So was this better at dinner time or with a late breakfast the next day?

Better at breakfast following day. Suspect would have been even better again at dinner following evening. A wine with a lot going on, and needs time to unfold itself.
