NV Warre King's Tawny Port

One of a few bottles purchased via a supermarket offer. £12ish?

On sight not 100% sure I'd pick this up as a tawny. Looks like a medium mature vintage or maybe an old ruby.

Nose is definitely tawny, but pretty basic. Doesn't promise an exciting palate...

...and it isn't. Pretty basic, but still fairly enjoyable.

Nothing wrong with this, but there are better supermarket own labels, some made by SFE, that are better.

Not sure what the point of this is?

All that said, have still managed to finish the bottle without much trouble.

It is one of those wines made to a price point so it can be sold at a discounted price by a supermarket in the run up to Christmas (and remaindered just after Christmas). There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it, but neither is there anything special about it. It’s a good wine to recommend to people who want to try Port but don’t drink it except at Christmas.
