How offen do you enjoy/drink port ???

once a month ??? once a week ??? every day ???

When you do it, is it alone or with friends, wife or ????

For my part it is, with my wife or with our 2 port friends, about once a month.

I probably average a glass 2-3 times a week. If I have a bottle open I'll have a glass every night, but once the bottle is empty it's sometimes a week or so before I open another.

The weather isn't cooperating right now... it's just a little too warm out (and we don't have air conditioning) to be drinking Port.

Only once a month on average personally (that is most of one bottle)

And a couple of times a year several glasses from several bottles at a tasting/meal

About a bottle a week. Goes down in about 3 days.
Most of the time I'm the only one drinking because my girlfriend can't handle more than a tiny glass of alcohol.

Hey Rubby,

seems to be a continental problem. My wife as well only does sip once at a time, but that leaves more for (the rest of )me.

2 bottles a week. Alone, with friends, everywhere I can lay hand on.

1 or 2 bottles per week at home, but not ever week. Jo doesn't drink port so I am forced to drink it alone

I usually have a glass or two in the evening, sometimes with a meal, often later at night. I tend not to drink a vast amount, though, as I don’t really like the feeling of being intoxicated on my own.

I generally get a chance to enjoy a bottle with friends about once a month, which is, of course, a much more convivial and efficient way of drinking

I am not fond of port with meals; not enough acid in the port. My girlfriend is a good for a glass or two almost every night. As much as she says she is not into port that much, she can sure drink it down.

She much prefers Sauternes/Tokay, as I bet most women would.

Moses,

Have you tried the Sandeman 20-yr old Tawny? That has LOADS of acid in it... far too much for my taste. I posted a TN over at FTLOP.

I can tell that it's a very good 20-yr old, I just don't like the style. But if you're looking for acidity in your Port, this one should be on your list.

On rare occasions, maybe a few times a year.

Until the "LBVHW" it was pehaps 3 or 4 nights a week. Since then, not a drop has passed my lips!

I have however just received in the post a 1/4 bottle of the 1970 Royal Oporto that DRT opened for the "LBVHW" online and I have every intention of breaking my post fatherhood duck with that tonight!

I probably drink a glass or two of port most days of the week. Frequently, I'll drink this with our evening meal and then a second glass will be sipped slowly over the rest of the evening. My wife will generally drink something other than port with her meal, but then seems to find my port very interesting when we are sitting together after the children have gone to bed.

And, of course, about once per month on average I manage to find an excuse to meet up with other port lovers and open an extra bottle or two.

When I'm at home I normally clear about two decanters a week; but when I'm on my travels, that drops to virtually nothing.

At the moment I'm coming to the end of my summer starvation (18 pounds down with 2 to go) which also limits my intake.

In all, I drink about four dozen bottles of VP a year, plus a more modest quantity of other variants.
