Come on lads, they Yanks seem to be having more off-lines than us these days :x

Some urgent planning is necessary. Any suggestions?

With all the turmoil in the financial markets, perhaps we need a distraction! I am generally available in London and have a week "home alone" from 29th September to 6th October. Regretably there was a date change due the the MIL's availability! At least 8th October was on the calendar!

I'm in London on 30th Sep so that is a possibility.

Anyone else?

Sorry: can’t make 30th Sept, as I’m in the Douro.

That's a pity, because you count as a Brit when on this side of the pond whereas most of the time we think of you as a Yank.

For those who will attend. We would all enjoy you being there. I think that is the second nicest thing I have ever said to you.

I did not consider the earlier correspondence confidential, and see no reason for it to be so, but given Derek’s reply, ought to treat it as such. Sorry Ben.

I could be in London most days of November or December.

The emails have been deleted, so this is from memory. Derek was about to drink several bottles of port with a third party. He said that he wanted me to come and assist with the drinking. I replied that, excluding things said by women before, well, you know, that was the nicest thing anybody had ever said to me.

That’s all.

You're always welcome to share a glass in Muscat. I can provide the glasses, can you take care of the port? :P

I am astonished that Julian did not pick up on this grammatical disgrace, it should have been "No. That's between Julian and me."
Port is basically a red drink

Anyone in London before Christmas? I am very disappointed not to be able to make the "official" TPF Christmas do and wonder if we can arrange a London version?

I'm around and with no plans on November 20th. Does that date work at all? Otherwise, choose a date and I'll see what I can arrange.

That would work for me I think. A couple more positive responses and we can start discussing themes!

20th November works for me. Three is a quorum. We're on 88)

Theme suggestions:
  • Bring something blind
  • 1994
  • Vesuvio Night
  • Over 30 years old
  • Colheitas R Us
  • Anyone for a '63?
Suggested venue: Portal?

I can manage blind, over 30 years old, colheitas R Us and anyone for a '63 (but only a colheita). Another idea for consideration - bring your initial. I would bring any port starting with B or R and I think there are options for the 3 of us. A slight variation on blind.

I’m also free on the 20th, if you could move up to 4. I don’t have any Vesuvio or 1994 (as I am yet to find either of them at a non-insane price) but, like Ben, could do any of the blind, colheita, over 30 or ’63!

In terms of initials, I have never encountered a bottle of Quinta do Javali, nor Hutchinson’s but could probably manage something starting with a G!

I have created a new thread for our 20th November "still to be themed" offline here.

And whilst December and January are at least represented with offlines in the UK, it seems to be about 40-love to the "yanks" in February and March courtesy of JDAW1's possible return to the old world!

I shall be in Chamonix on 22nd, 23rd and 24th January, consuming some port with 2 like minded friends. 1 of whom has attended an offline at least! Anyone else in the vicinity is welcome to join us for a few glasses! (Of whatever Gatwick airport has available!)

Monday 26th January is also an option as the wife is away that night - London area.
