Re: 1950 Cockburn
1950 Cockburn: “another pale red†. Smelling of aniseed, and then faint cherry. In the mouth lots of very soft cherry. Lighter than most older vintages. MC-R found “eucalyptus†.

Re: 1950 Cockburn
My note says "sugary sweet" - I don't seem to have been impressed!

Re: 1950 Cockburn
Mid-red colour with a pale rim. Warm nose with rose petals and cherries. Dry entry, slightly woody but this fades and is replaced by sweet, redcurrant jelly. Very, very long aftertaste. Extremely enjoyable although lacking in complexity. 89/100.

Miguel Côrte-Real sent AHB some of his own notes on the various vintages, some obviously drafted in advance, some from the day itself.

Generic Information
Shipped by most who did not declare 1948. The wines were rather light. It could be summarised as a useful rather than a great year (W. Fletcher 1978)
Year/Viticulture
A difficult growing season, but ideal conditions during the harvest.
Tasting Notes
A light wine of good quality. Came round quickly but may last longer than was at first thought. (J Smithes 1968)
