The backup thread
Posted: 20:27 Sun 19 Oct 2008
by jdaw1
This thread is to hold announcements by admins that a backup has just been taken, and also requests that a backup be taken. Admins should be coping under their own steam, so requests won’t generally be needed. But if we’re asleep, or you have just done a lot of posting, request anyway.
To start:
• Backup taken by jdaw1 16:27 EST on Sun 19 Oct 2008.

Backup taken by DRT at 22:18 UK time on 22 Oct 08 just because he wanted to work out how to do it. Back-up file copied to a place where other Admins can find it.

Backed up today but can't access FTP software - out in States. I can send backup if either need it.

That’s an eleven-day gap. Admins should consider themselves reprimanded. Users should consider themselves reprimanded for not reminding the admins. Team spanking.

You're not at Cambrige Uni now Mr Wiseman
Reprimand accepted. I will endevour to do better but new IT security policy and network & hard disk monitoring systems prevent me from doing this on work PC.

I apologise for the admins’ general failure to tack backups, and will endeavour to be more reliable.

admin doesn't fail to take backups, admin fails to update this thread, as previously mentioned.

I have never tacked a backup as I fail to see the point of doing so.

I've unstuck this thread on the grounds that nobody updates it making it look like we don't do backups when the truth is that I do them on a regular basis, I just don't update this thread. It should now shuffle down the pack into obscurity.

Unless others decide to post meaningless stuff in this thread, keeping it at the top. I, of course, would never do such a thing.
