Back to School

I'm starting back properly tomorrow, after two and a half weeks off, with a five day Purchasing course. I'm sort of looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. There were so many things that I wanted to do whilst I was off and ended up doing a whole load of other stuff instead. I even put extra insulation in the loft today, not really on my list but turned out to be a priority when I found some bits of the roof were a bit lacking. I need another two weeks to do the things I should have done.

How's everybody else feeling about the impending doom?

Right now, pretty good - I have another week off! Still enjoying the nioce weather in Texas and the surprising availability of colheita here. Already tried a Messias 1982 and Kopke 1998. Opposite ends of the sweet - dry spectrum. Got a Smith Woodhouse 1986 to go before I decide what goes in the case to bring home!

May feel a little different in 7 days time!

I am "working" from home today, tomorrow and Wednesday as my son doesn't go back to school until then.

Post New Year celebrations have been severely dented by man-flu which has resulted in no port passing my lips in 2009

I went back to work yesterday and was really ready to do so. There's only so much time you can spend with the family before everyone drives each other mad. The children are back at school today but want school to change the starting time to 11am so they can stay in bed as "normal". Amazing how normal changes over a short two weeks.

OK, second day back now and already knackered by the early starts. Course is going well enough, I have one internal student who is pretty bright, so probably finish a day early - woo hoo!

Which is why January is the best time of the year to be a divorce lawyer!apparently yesterday is usually the peak day of the year for people initiating proceedings!

When are you next going to be teaching in Reading?

Please, do you have a source for that statement?

I have 2 friends who initiated proceedings about this time of year! (The only 2 who are divorced at present, so 100% confirmed)

Knowing that a question along this line was likely, I did have a look. This year’s main story, which was reported by Reuters, The Sun, The Telegraph and the Mirror (observe the illustration of choice for at least half of those!) goes back to InsideDivorce.com, quoting James Stewart, a partner at Manches LLP. I note a dissent but have heard the same anecdote so many times that I feel it can safely be repeated within meaningless drivel.

If only Durkheim were still alive to provide us with the truth :)
