I shan’t ask what a NATO pilot is doing in a neutral country.

Since my parents are irish residents, I think you could inherit this right.

Anyways, Ireland does not have a real armed force, but they are in the NATO. At least they have been, when I was at the academy.

As a former member of the Irish armed forces I suppose I should feel insulted but as any miltary historian will tell you both British and American forces are and have been jam packed with Irish participants, Wellington and Montgomery to name but a few. We pay an active involvement in the UN (Lebanon, Somalia, Balkans etc) where we manage to endear ourselves to the locals without getting shot! Anyway I am still interested in meeting up for some port (the third Irish tasting....see Alex) where I can educate you all on hundred of years of British occupation (Cromwell etc.) I would also be interested in golf but I won't be troubling anyone in competitive mood.

And as you say, the Irish have served competently and honourably under the Crown, even after independence.

None of which really advances far more important plans for port in Ireland.
