Today, I encountered a sign which made me decide to pose this question.

Who describes themselves in their promotional material as "Britain's Premier Port"?

Felixstowe is where I saw the sign. I haven't been to Southampton recently, but when I was last there I thought it was describing itself as "Britain's Largest Port". Perhaps something that JDAW is aspiring to charge.

This is a very dangerous thread as it may result in geeks with an unhealthy interest in sea ports finding our site via google - can you imagine what this place would be like if it were to be overrun with geeks?

I've had a bottle of Felixstowe Port and can confirm that it is pretty darned good in comparison with the Southampton double magnum.
