Decisions...

A London Club is selling some of it's cellar and i've got a difficult decision to make. I can only buy one case from the following;

Warres 1983: £29.50
Quarles Harris 1985: £25
Smith Woodhouse 1985: £25
Fonseca Q.d Panascal 1986: £18
Grahams 1987 Q.d malvados 1987: £18

What would you go for?

Cool prices. I would go for them all. Considering the price my personal favourite would be the 86 Panascal to drink now and the Malvedos 87 for laying down.

Merry christmas

Personally I would probably go for the 1987 Malvedos, but more because that's the year I was married than for any other reason. I have a hard time finding VP from 1987 here in the states, so the chance to get a case (especially at such a great price) would be too much to pass up.

Ignoring sentimental reasons, I would get the 1985 Smith Woodhouse. It's a fantastic Port, and while not quite up to the level of the Fonseca or Graham of the same vintage it's within spitting distance. Great juice.

Is one case a budgetary decision or a restriction on the sale? If it's budgetary then I am sure that some people on here can help you buy a mixed lot if you're allowed to buy more (hint hint). I'd buy the Malvedos 1987 as I know that it is a cracker.

IMO the Graham's 1987 is the best port of the bunch. It also has the best price, so easy decision.

I’m with Ronnie on this one; although if you buy a case, try to avoid drinking it for at least a decade...

If there is any prospect of more being available, I would love to get my hands on more Malvedos 1987! I acquired 6 bottles earlier in 2009 and most of them have long since departed this world! They most certainly do have plenty of life left in them, but are equally great drinking now.

Unfortunately it's a members only offer. I think I will go for the Grahams and if in the near or far future there is a Grahams or 1987 tasting, I will be more than happy to contribute a few bottles.

yea, I'd clean them out personally.

Oh joy! The FP86, because I’ve never had it? SW85, because it’s excellent? GM87, because everybody else knows it and rates it highly? None, because I’m not a member.
