Although I am not much of a runner myself I was told about a running-event I do find extremely interesting.
The sunday at the wine fair in Regua ended in a very big Marathon event in Regua. No-no, do not get me wrong, I would never run 42,something km in 37 deg if nobody would stick a bajonette in my back to make me do so, but there was a "family" run as well and the deal is:
Run about 6 km from the locks east of Regua to Regua and have a small winetasting every km. I think this is one of the finisher-T-Shirts I would definitely like to wear at the next bbq-event.

Something tells me it would be much safer for me to walk the last km or two of that event...

Something tells me it would be even safer to take a taxi straight to the final wine tasting on the route and spend the day welcoming the runners home by toasting their efforts with a glass of Douro DOC

negative, take a taxi from the start to the first tasting station, taste wine, get back in said taxi, drive to next tasting station, do it all over until you get to the finish line and final tasting station
