Initially showing dark cherries on the nose, but over the course of 5 days this changed to become blackcurrant and blueberry. Very acidic at first, overly so and with poor balance, this was a wine that pulled itself together very well with time in the decanter to yield a smooth and balanced port with a great depth of fruit and soft tannins. The high levels of acidity showed on the slightly burning aftertaste, which gave way to a black chocolate and dried cherry finish of good length. 87-89/100. A good port for drinking around the traditional 21 year mark perhaps. 5 July 2010.
