A Perfect Tasting

A tasting might be regarded as ‟perfect” for various reasons. A complete vertical of Vesuvio might be one example. One without any corked or flawed bottles might be another.

I have been thinking about another hypothetical ‟perfect” tasting today, and decided that such a tasting would comprise a selection of Ports from the late 1980s to 1990s from the following shippers:

Dow
Borges & Irmão
Quinta do Seixo
Cruz
Taylor
Noval
Kopke
Quinta do Fojo
Quarles Harris

As a little game, can anyone guess why these shippers have been selected?

All 26 letters of the alphabet are represented at least once?

Yes :) I think the full Port-tasting paragram, including numbers, consists of these wines:

Dow 1980
Borges & Irmão 1982
Cruz 1989
Taylor 1992
Noval 1987
Kopke 1986
Fojo 1994
Seixo 1983
Quarles Harris 1985

If anyone could produce a shorter list (either in number of shippers or number of letters in the shippers' names) let me know! The problems are x" (which has to be Seixo, I think) or "j" (Fojo or Javali). I've been discounting the "Quinta do" bit, hence having Quarles Harris.

PS. There is a serious purpose for this, which is to produce a sample for the Solera 1842 stencil font I'm working on.
